Volusia Speedway Park closed out the summer portion of the 2026 season with a bang.
Through four Features between the Top Gun Sprint Car Series, 604 Late Models, DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, and Factory Stocks in the fourth annual Battle in Barberville, the night saw Tyler Clem, Jackson Hise, and Jason Garver drive to Victory Lane at the “World’s Fastest Half Mile.”

Top Gun Sprints
Tyler Clem knows no bounds to his mastery of Barberville, FL.
The St. Petersburg, FL native earned his second Battle in Barberville victory by outdueling his Top Gun Sprints title opponents for 25 laps.
Ocala, FL’s Robbie Smith controlled the pace for the start of the Feature from the front row while Clem powered up four positions from a seventh-place start to join the podium at the end of the opening lap.
Clem muscled around polesitter Stephen Darvalics to take second place on Lap 3 while Smith hustled to a 1.6-second lead around the cushion through the first half.
When lapped traffic hogged Smith’s racing lines, it helped Clem slim the gap to one car-length behind the Anubis Motorsports No. 71 while he looked for a lane to pass with the laps ticking down.
With four laps remaining, Clem positioned his Smith Racing No. 6S for a slide job around Smith in Turns 1-2. Clem got clear off the corner, sped away with the lead, and ran up to a 2.4-second lead over Smith as he earned a fourth consecutive Top Gun Sprints win and inches closer to his second Series title.
“I had (Smith) there twice, and the yellows came out. Just unfortunate timings,” Clem said. “On the restarts, he would enter on the top and drive down across the racetrack, but it seemed like his motor stumbled so hard that he couldn’t get a good start. I kept my line on the top, and my motor fired off great.”

604 Late Models
Jackson Hise never forgot how to win in a dirt Late Model.
Making his first appearance in his No. 388 Longhorn Chassis since June 28, Hise climbed back into the car without outside pressure as he made a triumphant return with a $2,000 payday for his first Battle in Barberville victory.
Starting from the outside on the front row, Hise used his cushion advantage to gain a run over Kole Platt on the exit of Turn 2 to secure the top spot.
Hise formed a rhythm with his car pitched around the outside while Platt faced challenges from Garret Stewart and Jason Garver for the remaining podium positions, helping Hise extend to a 4.7-second lead by the end of Lap 5.
While Stewart and Garver were able to maneuver around Platt for second and third, respectively, they were powerless to chase Hise around the oval as they experimented with different lines.
While cautions became a key factor in the second half, Hise kept Stewart and Garver at bay as he completed a perfect return with his first 604 Late Model win at Volusia and his first win at the track since 2023.
“It feels good to be home,” Hise said. “You run a lot on the road. Super Late Model racing, it gets grueling and tiring and beat down, but obviously it pays off with all the hard work we’ve done because this thing was really, really good tonight.”

DIRTcar UMP Modifieds
Jason Garver is not allowing the chance for a second track title to escape his grasp.
Starting from the top of the front row for 20 laps of DIRTcar UMP Modified competition, the Starke, FL native used every inch of the high side on the start to jump the lead as fourth-place starter Garret Stewart followed in tow to fight Rich Pratt for second.
Garver found his comfort around the cushion as Stewart shared a similar philosophy. Though the Fruitland Park, FL driver took second from Pratt, he continued to lose time on Garver as the No. 27 Lethal Chassis maxed out to a 3.1-second lead until the caution wave on Lap 11.
On the ensuing restart, Garver went back to work at keeping Stewart at bay through the remaining nine laps as he secured a second win of the year in the division.
The win helped “Racin’ Jason” extend the points lead to a one-point margin over Dillon Buhr heading into the penultimate points race in October.
“Anytime you can beat Garrett in a UMP Modified, you got to feel good,” Garver said. “He’s good here, and we got us a good car here, Lethal Chassis, they’re really good. We get a lot of help from David (Stremme) and everyone, and I just want to thank everybody that helps out. Like, takes a whole crew to make this happen for me, and I want to thank all of them.”

Factory Stocks
These are the nights Jason Garver dreams of.
Running from his UMP Modified in Victory Lane into a Factory Stock, he kept the same winning mindset with a heavier workload after rolling off in sixth place.
While Garver did not add any spots after the first circuit, he caught a head of steam that helped him power across a pack of Factory Stocks, putting his car into the podium positions through the early stages.
At the front of the field, Rich Pratt kept his lead by running the cushion while Garver found speed by driving the slider line through each of the four turns. On Lap 7, Garver’s No. 01 Factory Stock got in-line behind Pratt, then darted across Turns 3-4 to force the lead into his possession.
Garver did not relinquish the top spot through the remaining circuits around Volusia as he captured his first win in the Factory Stocks of the 2026 season. He’s 26 points back from points leader Patrick Thomas with the fall stretch ahead.
