A thunderous roar not heard since March will return to Volusia Speedway Park when Sprint Cars soar around the 1/2-mile dirt track during the Top Gun Classic on Friday, Aug. 28.
The special Friday night event brings the Top Gun Sprint Car Series back to Volusia, giving NASCAR fans in town for the Coke 400 at Daytona International Speedway a taste of the “World’s Fastest Half Mile.”
In addition to Sprint Cars, fans will also get to see 604 Late Models, DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, and Factory Stocks.

DIVISIONS
Top Gun Sprints – The winged warriors of the Top Gun Sprint Car Series return to Volusia Speedway Park for the first time since September for their first of two events at the Barberville, FL facility this year.
Last year, during the Battle in Barberville in September, Jadan Bowling, in his first Top Gun Sprint Car Series start, outdueled multi-time Volusia winner Tyler Clem for the win – his first at Volusia.
There’s been no one better than Clem in the first three Series events of the year as he’s won all three at Hendry County Motorsports Park. That’s also put him atop the Top Gun Sprints points standings, 34 points over three-time Volusia winner Matt Kurtz. The St. Petersburg, FL native has four wins with the Series at Volusia and eight wins overall at the track, including a 604 Late Model win there this year.

604 Late Models – There have been three different 604 Late Model winners in the three 604 races at the track this year – Blake Clouser, Garret Stewart, and Tyler Clem.
Of them, Fruitland Park, FL’s Stewart is the current division points leader with one win, two top fives, and three top-10 finishes in three starts this year. Jason Garver, of Starke, FL, has been his closest competition with two top-fives and three top-10 finishes.
DIRTcar UMP Modifieds – Nearly 40 DIRTcar UMP Modifieds have participated in the first three “Fab 5” events at Volusia this year. Of them, Plant City, FL’s Jeff Scofield has been the class of the field, winning the first two races of the year and currently holding the division’s points lead.
However, his winning streak was brought to a close during the last event in July when Josh Sanford, of Keystone Heights, FL, powered to his first win of the season. Dillon Buhr, of Jacksonville, FL has also been strong and consistent, collecting two top fives and three top-10 finishes, putting him only 12 points behind Scofield in the track championship battle.
Factory Stocks – The Factory Stocks have been one of the most compelling divisions at Volusia Speedway Park in 2026, continually attracting sizeable car counts and producing exciting side-by-side battles.
There have been three different winners in the first three events – Nevin Gainey, Camden Harp, and Mike Tovet – and none of them are in the top 10 in points. When you look at the top of the standings, the battle is tight with Tanner Thomas, of Oviedo, FL, holding a six-point lead over Patrick Thomas, and an 11-point lead over third-place Willy “The Kid” Cuddy.
