With weather models showing high winds and rain throughout the day on Friday, Volusia Speedway Park officials have canceled Friday’s practice. That will allow track workers to prepare the track for any wet weather with the focus now shifted to preparing for Saturday’s Opening Night Special.
Saturday’s season-opener for weekly racing at “The World’s Fastest Half Mile” will feature 602 Late Models, 604 Late Models, DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, 3/4 Modifieds and Thunder Stocks.
The event will also showcase the Florida Short Track Reunion. Racing legends and their cars will be in the midway at 4:00pm.
On track action is scheduled to start at 6pm (ET) on Saturday. Tickets and pit passes are available at the track.
