After being hit with heavy rain in the afternoon and more in the evening, on top of the several inches of rain that fell throughout the day on Friday, Volusia Speedway Park officials have canceled the Labor Day Classic finale.
The decision was made keeping the best interests of traveling drivers and fans in mind, as the amount of rain that fell would not allow for ample drying time to safely complete the night’s program.
Those who had already purchased a wristband to the Labor Day Classic can use it toward any other “Fab 5” event this year.
Volusia Speedway Park now turns its attention to the Battle in Barberville, Saturday, Sept. 19, featuring the return of the Top Gun Sprint Cars.
