The “Fab 5” returned to Volusia Speedway Park for a Summer Sizzler on Saturday.
With a big crowd on hand, the 602 Late Models, DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, 604 Late Models, 3/4 Modifieds, and Factory Stocks each put on an exciting show around “The World’s Fastest Half Mile.”
Here is how each division’s Feature played out:
602 Late Models
Two starts, two wins for Bubba Roling.
The Clay Hill, FL returned for his second Volusia championship race of the season and picked up where he left off.
When the 20-lap 602 Late Model Feature commenced, Jason Garver jumped to the early lead, while Roling went from fourth to second by the time the field exited Turn 2 for the first time.
The two ended up locked in a battle for the lead on Lap 3 with Garver running low and Roling hammering the cushion up high.
On Lap 4, the high side prevailed as Roling made his way around Garver for the lead, where he remained for the rest of the Feature. However, Garver’s fate in the runner-up spot wasn’t the same after spinning on a Lap 11 restart.
Brandon Yates, who won the 602 Late Model race at Volusia last month, moved into second after Garver’s error, but couldn’t match Roling’s speed. He had to focus on maintaining the runner-up spot, allowing Roling to win by 5.5 seconds.
“This thing has been really good. It’s been really good every time I’ve been here,” Roling said. “I’ve won a lot of places with this thing. I just don’t think I can give it up. This thing, it handles so good and when you get a race car that can handle you got to keep ahold of it because it is hard to find one that can.”
RESULTS:

DIRTcar UMP Modifieds
The points battle continues to heat up for the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds with the top three in the standings, Jason Garver, Dillon Buhr, and Seth Geary, continuing to put on a show every time they enter “The World’s Fastest Half Mile.”
Garver led from the pole, but never comfortably, constantly under fire from Buhr, Geary and Joshua Kunstbeck.
First, Buhr put on the pressure for the first four laps before jumping the cushion, allowing Kunstbeck to pass him for second and take his turn to battle Garver.
While Garver and Kunstbeck dueled, Geary was on a march forward from seventh. He made his way by Buhr for third on Lap 6 and then started making runs at Kunstbeck. However, Kunstbeck exited the fight on Lap 10 when his motor expired, moving Geary to second.
Garver and Geary put on a show for the next five laps with Garver running the high line while Geary tried to pull the same amount of speed out of the low line.
A Lap 15 caution put that battle on hold and set up a five-lap dash to the finish. However, Geary wanted to put a period on the battle when the race resumed, throwing his car into Turns 3 and 4 to slide ahead of Garver.
Once clear, Geary pulled away to earn his third win of the season. He is now third in points, 14 points behind Garver, who leads. Buhr is second in points, 10 points behind Garver.
“Jason, he’s so fast. He’s so good too,” Geary said. “Really good job defending the moves. If someone is signaling for him, I hope they are, he took the line I was using to get through the field. After that, I had to enter higher than that. I was way too tight; I couldn’t steer in very good. So, I had to elbows up and hustle it in. Hopefully, it was clean. I hope it was far enough ahead. Thank you, Jason, for racing me clean. That was a lot of fun. I’m worn out.”

604 Late Models
Trynt Lloyd needed every inch he could find to score his last win at Volusia in July, but this time, he had a bit more of a cushion.
The 20-lap 604 Late Model Feature started with Jody Knowles leading the field to the green flag and then being stuck in a three-wide battle for the lead with Garret Stewart, who started second, and Lloyd, who started third.
Lloyd won the early battle and drove away with the lead on the first lap. By Lap 3, he had already pulled ahead by two seconds.
However, that pace was put on pause with a caution on Lap 5.
When the race resumed, Knowles knew he needed to make a drastic move to stop Lloyd and accomplished that task with a slider into the first turn. He was rewarded with the lead, but had to watch it slip away shortly after when he slid too high in the corner, allowing Lloyd to reclaim the lead and Bubba Roling to take second.
In the second half of the Feature, Roling took the role of Lloyd’s contender, trying to score his second win of the night. He closed to Lloyd’s bumper with five laps to go but couldn’t craft a strong enough run to get by the No. 2 car.
A caution slowed the field again on Lap 16. When the race resumed, Lloyd never missed a mark and pulled away with his third win of the season, extending his points lead to 63 points over Kole Platt.
“That’s one of those times you really wish you had a mirror,” Lloyd said about having to race Knowles and Roling. “I had my guys out there telling me this and that. I was just playing defense. I went to tweaking on this thing again, trying to get it better. It really wasn’t all that good.”

3/4 Modifieds
Dalton Hopke continues to hold the reins on the 3/4 Modified division. In his fourth start in the championship season, he picked up his fourth Feature win and jumped to the points lead – now 16 points ahead of Ethyn Hwan.
Colton Lane jumped to the early lead from the outside pole, but had Hopke, who started fourth, breathing down his neck by Turn 3 of the first lap.
Lane impressed, holding off Hopke for the first five laps before Hopke dove into Turn 3 to slide ahead of Lane.
Once in the lead, Hopke cranked up the dial of his pace from 10 to 11. He gained tenths every lap, ending the 15-lap Feature with a nearly three-second lead.
“That kid (Colton Lane) right there is really awesome, he’s really good. I’m waiting for him. His time is coming,” Hopke said. “I knew he just left me way too much there on the top, so I was going for all or junk. We’re going to wreck, or we’re going to put it right here in Victory Lane. So, that’s what we tried to do.”
RESULTS:
Feature (15 Laps): 1. H1-Dalton Hopke[4]; 2. 32P-Jesse Powers[7]; 3. 26L-Colton Lane[2]; 4. 188-Josh Panetti[5]; 5. 5C-Chase Cooke[1]; 6. 9-Logan Malone[9]; 7. 21-Dakota Cleland[8]; 8. 59-William Inabnett[10]; 9. 29-Ethyn Hwan[6]; 10. 45-James Williams[11]; 11. 16-Steve Shead[12]; 12. 7L-Jonathan Layerd[3]; 13. Factory Stocks
The fourth time was the charm for Jason Garver Saturday night. After seeing a victory slip away with the 602 Late Models, DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, and 604 Late Models, Garver was not going to leave Volusia empty-handed.
He lined up fourth for the 20-lap Factory Stock Feature, but when the green flag flew, Garver was quick to jump into the battle for the lead.
Tanner Thomas led the field into Turn 1, but had Bruce Bennett looking to his outside and Garver glancing low. Off Turn 2, Thomas had the advantage and pulled away from the two, leaving them to duel side by side for second.
However, that battle only lasted a lap as Garver passed Bennett with ease and then ran up to Thomas’ rear bumper.
While Garver had the faster car, Thomas didn’t let him by easily. Garver had to time his move. Hanging on Thomas’ rear bumper each lap, he built enough momentum off Turn 4 to get a run underneath Thomas going into Turn 1.
They raced side by side down the backstretch before Garver threw a slider into Turn 3 to take the lead. From there, he went uncontested.
Thomas lost second to Blake Clouser on the final lap after Garver scored his third Factory Stock win of the 2025 Volusia championship season.
“The old car ran pretty good,” Garver said. “Tight competition there. You got to get them when you can. It’s a tough class. Lucky we was able to be good enough to win tonight. Takes a lot of people to make all of this happen, I have to thank all of them.”
