The 2023 schedule is highlighted by new dates for the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and Top Gun Sprint Cars, addition of the Germfree Southern Sprint Car Shootout and the return of Gladiators
BARBERVILLE, FL – As the days begin to count down to the new season, Volusia Speedway Park is setting up to make the 2023 racing season one of its most significant after a historic 2022 season.
The World’s Fastest Half Mile is scheduled to host 23 events in 2023, with 15 of the races making up the 2023 local championship season.
Special events – Sunshine Nationals, Germfree Southern Sprint Car Shootout, DIRTcar Nationals and the World of Outlaws’ Low-E Insulation Spring Showdown – will highlight the track’s activities from January to March before weekly racing starts during the third weekend in March.
New Additions
A United Return (Jan. 26-28) – Continuing to build its resume as one of the best Sprint Car tracks in the country, Volusia Speedway Park welcomes back the United Sprint Car Series for the first time since 2005 for the inaugural Germfree Southern Sprint Car Shootout, Jan. 26-28. The new event will pay $3,000 to win on Friday and $5,000 on Saturday, attracting the biggest 360 Sprint Car drivers in the region and beyond.
Sprint Cars at Bike Week (March 5-6) – The worlds of two tires and four will collide March 5-6, when the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series returns to Volusia Speedway Park for a special Bike Week appearance. The two-day event will help kick off the 81st Daytona Bike Week for the area and the six-race Low-E Insulation Spring Showdown series for the World of Outlaws.
Spring For Money (March 25 to April 29) – New to the Volusia Speedway Park championship will be a four-race dash for cash dubbed the Month of Money. From March 25 to April 29, the 604 Late Models will battle for over $6,000 to whoever wins all four races.
Go For Takeoff – The Top Gun Sprint Car Series will return to Volusia Speedway Park for a record five appearances in 2023, with the first race on May 13. The 305 Sprint Cars will make appearances on June 3, July 29, Aug. 19, and the season finale Battle in Barberville will return Dec. 1-2.
The Comeback Class – 2023 will mark the return of the Gladiators, who will make their first appearance on April 15. These 4-Cylinder machines have been the most requested class to return, and the first race will be one that fans will be itching to see.
Talkin’ Bout Practice – In 2023, there will be opportunities for drivers and teams to practice during the season. With dates on March 17, July 26, and Sept. 1, you can be sure to take advantage of these opportunities and prepare for upcoming races.
Traditional Favorites
It’s Always Sunny in Barberville (Jan. 18-21) – Volusia’s 2023 season will begin with the fourth annual DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals on Jan. 18-21. The Late Model Palooza will return with its familiar lineup, featuring the 602 Late Models, 604 Late Models, and the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Models.
14 Days of Fun (Feb. 6-18) – The biggest dirt race of the year returns to Volusia, Feb. 6-18 – the 52nd Annual DIRTcar Nationals. The two-week event will feature seven of the biggest dirt racing series in the country and hundreds of the best drivers in the world – all battling to be a Big Gator champion.
The first week will feature the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars, TEZOS All Star Circuit of Champions and DIRTcar UMP Modifieds.
Then, the second week will be highlighted by the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Models, DIRTcar Late Models, Super DIRTcar Series and the debut of USAC Non-Wing Sprint Cars.
The Special 10th (Nov. 16-18) – Shifting focus towards November, the 10th Annual Emil & Dale Reutimann Memorial will return to Volusia Speedway Park. The Nov. 16-18 event will play host to the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds with a 50-lap Feature, and a $10,000 winner’s purse on the line for the winner of the 2023 running.
